Port Douglas

The Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef

Sea Turtle

Immerse yourself in the Great Barrier Reef with one of the award winning reef tour operators all only a short stroll away from the apartment. Scuba diving, reef snorkelling or a glass bottom boat tour is certainly a 'must do' when travelling to the region. Along with the 1,500 species of fish are 350 different types of coral, 4,000 species of molluscs and 10,000 species of sponges. The graceful Green Turtle is also common. A number of operators offer daily tours to the outer reef where you can snorkel or scuba dive. There are also high speed boats that can take you out to the reef seasick free! Alternatively, visit the Low Isles. One of the 540 Great Barrier Reef Islands, the idyllic Low Isles off Port Douglas is covered in a lush tropical flora and provides for snorkelling right off the beach and is one of the best spots for swimming with sea turtles.

Iconic Four mile beach

Located just seconds from your apartment and voted in Australia's 'Best Beach' lists every year, Four Mile Beach is unspoilt by any man-made structures, and lined with native trees and coconuts. 4 mile of beach offers a simply stunning strolls from sunrise to sunset. You can also hire a bike and ride the full length of the beach. There are many bike hire shops in town. A serious must do.

Daintree Rainforest

The Daintree River Crossing is an icon within the Port Douglas region. This crossing is the only way visitors can access the World Heritage Listed Rainforest. If driving there yourself, take your wallet as there is a minor crossing charge if not on a tour. This is true rainforest, with self-guided walks and tours available. For a guided tour, we recommend Cooper Creek Wilderness Tours. The drive to Cape Tribulation is stunning with the opportunity to see the rare and elusive Cassowary. There are restaurants at Cape Tribulation, as well as a beautiful stretch of beach. On the way home (on the right-hand side of the road), enjoy an ice-cream at the The Daintree Ice Cream Company. This boutique ice creamery is renowned for its exquisite desserts made from tropical fruits grown in the company’s own orchards such as Black Sapote, Soursop, Wattle Seed and Jackfruit. All the ice creams are made on the premises and the flavours vary throughout the year, as only fruit in season is used for the ice cream.
